Hi, I'm Marie and I 'm a 5th generation Usui Reiki Ryoho and 8th and 9th generation Shiki Ryoho Reiki (master) Senior Teacher.  I am a Meditation teacher and an artist, as well.

I had practices in Delaware and Philadephia counties in Pennsylvania, before moving to the Lehigh Valley, and have work with patients at several Philadelphia area hospitals and hospices.

I continue to treat people of all ages who wish to utilize Reiki for general wellness and stress reduction as well as for specific tension, pain problems, surgical preparation, and post surgical recovery via zoom, and occasionally on hospital visits with my Therapy Dog.

I also treat animals for anxiety, physical problems, and to alleviate pain.

I am grateful to have begun my training with a wonderful Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master, Michael Soto, in Chicago in 1989.  I was (and still am) passionate about learning as much as I can about energy work and its uses in medicine.

I studied everything that would enrich my understanding.  I continued my education with different mentors in Philadelphia and Sedona and attained my Shiki Ryoho, Reiki III (teaching level) in New York in 2002.

There are many branches of Reiki (more than 200.)

Over the next decade, I studied and became certified in many of them and, not surprisingly, discovered them all to be variations of the same theme.

I finally chose to focus on the form I found to be least influenced by Western culture. The Ryoho (school) I chose to work with taught the “original system of Reiki” that remained as it had been originally presented by the founder of Reiki, Usui Mikao, in Japan.  I studied this Traditional form of Japanese Reiki and meditation from the Usui Reiki Ryoho, through the Shinpiden (master teacher) level, with international best selling author and founder of the International House of Reiki, Senior Teacher, Frans Stiene, in 2015.

I teach meditation which is the basis and most integral part of the Traditional practice of Reiki as well as other brain science modalities.

I have been working with Theta Healing, Mindfulness Meditation, Angel Healing, and Moving Meditation.

I guide new students to meditate in ways they can take home and use instantly and I continue to mentor them as they learn and progress.  Among the many methods I mentioned, teaching Moving Mindfulness Meditation, meditating while in physical or mental motion, has added benefits for my aging patients, increasing neuroplasticity and helping with brain age.

I am also a Certified Zentangle Teacher® (CZT) taught by founders, Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts.  The Zentangle Method®, teaches anyone to create beautiful images from repetitive patterns.

"It is easy to learn and easy to do. Through specified series of steps, it results in a creative expression that transcends its own rules." I teach this creative method as a "moving" mindful meditation. "It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being, " says Roberts.  I find this meditation form to be unique in that children as young as 6 or 7 can easily follow along and, in fact, succeed, while gaining the benefits of meditation.

I regularly attend classes, retreats and conferences for Reiki, Zentangle, and meditation, and stay involved with these global teaching communities.  I'm as passionate about teaching as I am about learning.

I've taught Meditation, Reiki and Zentangle® to people of all ages and occupations. From patients, their families, to massage therapists, physicians, surgeons, nurses, and medical support staff, and all have become daily practitioners.

Reiki starts with self practice. A little bit everyday. A few minutes a day that result in a lifetime of positive change…

For the last 10 years, I've been using Reiki in my work with hospice and cancer patients with truly wonderful results.  I have given Reiki to cancer patients at: Brigham And Women's Hospital, Boston, MA; UPenn Perlman Center for Advanced Medicine, Roberts Proton Therapy Center, Philadelphia, PA; Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, Chicago, IL; Philadelphia VA Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA; Crozer Chester Medical Center, Chester, PA; New York - Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, New York City, NY; and many nursing homes in the Philadelphia area.  I am proud to be the official Reiki practitioner, teacher and meditation mentor for West Chester University's personnel Perks program.

My background is in science and, as a result, I approach energy medicine from the traditional Western scientific point of view.

The two philosophies may seem incongruous, yet I have spent almost three decades doing energy work with patients and working with their medical teams, and we've seen the incredible results.

When I first learned Reiki in 1989, it was in its American infancy. We early practitioners started introducing the practice to the medical community by volunteering in hospitals and nursing homes.  In the last two decades things have changed dramatically.  Reiki is now in treatment centers in major hospitals and Ivy League universities.  Reiki is becoming mainstream.

I want to share this amazing method of self healing and balance with as many people as possible.

I envision a practice with a virtual "revolving door" where people come in curious about Reiki and leave as passionate practitioners sharing their newfound knowledge.

My philosophy on the value of MEDITATION is simple:  It is invaluable and must be accessible to anyone wanting its benefits.

I am a Registered Certified Reiki Practitioner and Teacher (CRMT) with the Shibumi International Reiki Association www.shibumireiki.org  and the International Association of Reiki Professionals.  www.IARP.org
